I have traveled to France, Italy and Greece to photograph the subject matter for my paintings which I create in my studio in Armonk, New York. I use oil or acryllic paint on canvas. What captivates me most are country landscapes with saturated color, light, and shadow. In my paintings I emphasize the characteristics of my subjects, making the painted images even more dramatic and beautiful than in the photos.
My paintings include French, Italian and Greek landscapes, buildings, boats and water - worlds filled with sunlit landscapes, colorful gardens and villas. I have traveled extensively to collect images for my work, including France - Paris, Provence and Normandy, Italy - Tuscany, Venice, Naples, Florence and Greece - Athens, Rhodes, and Santorini. Paintings depict fields of lavender and poppies, shuttered dwellings, cobblestone streets, and stone walls, steps, and fountains. Canals lined with colorful boats and buildings, and fruit and flower markets are also favored subjects for my paintings. I plan to begin work on paintings of Israel, in particular an Old Jerusalem series in the near future.
My collection of still life wine and champagne bottle paintings was conceived in the spirit of the millenium festivities - these include fine wines, liquor, champagne, spirits and crystal.
I sell original works, as well as giclees on canvas. I typically lay paint onto the giclee to add texture and originality.
My paintings have been displayed in displayed in galleries, shows, restaurants, homes and businesses across the United States.
